What Is Eve’s Agenda?

Category:

The WWE Universe learned Friday night that even “Big Johnny” needs a day off every now and then. Luckily for him, though, he had a temporary replacement ready and willing to step right into his role.

John Laurinaitis, General Manager of both Raw and SmackDown, decided to take a “personal day” Friday, opting to leave newly appointed Executive Administrator Eve in his place. Throughout the show, Eve was called upon to deal with the day-to-day responsibilities usually reserved for the GM, and the Diva looked right at home dishing out orders.

Since being appointed Executive Administrator by Mr. Laurinaitis, Eve has certainly established her presence, showing no qualms in wielding her newfound power. From her relentless mistreatment of Theodore Long to her shocking firing of The Bella Twins earlier in the week, Eve has definitely made the most of her opportunity.

But is there a hidden agenda behind the recent actions of the former two-time Divas Champion? Put simply, what exactly is Eve’s endgame?

As any great detective will tell you, cracking most cases comes down to answering the following question: Who benefits? Looking at Eve’s actions as Executive Administrator so far, the answer to that question may be clear, but her possible ulterior motives just might surprise you.

Possessing sole control of SmackDown on Friday night, Eve faced a big decision right off the bat. .....READ MORE

A Girl's Got To Do, What A Girl's Got To Do

Category:

On Monday Night Raw, through the boos and #hoeski chants, Eve reminded the WWE Universe that she was a "woman in a man's world." Very true. The former Divas Champion went on to say that there wasn't a person in the world who wouldn't love to be used by her. Arguably, also true. So is Eve, in fact, wrong about using her "natural strengths" to get ahead?

Eve is neither the first nor the last woman inside the WWE ring - or outside - to use her sexuality to get ahead in their careers. Now one of WWE's most beloved Divas, Trish Stratus flaunted her sexuality to climb the ladder in the Divas' locker room. Stacy Keibler and Torrie Wilson also had their moments of using their God-given physiques and irresistibility to get what they wanted. In Hollywood, Marilyn Monroe was famous for telling men what they wanted to hear to get her next role. Conniving? Maybe. Did it work? Absolutely. (PHOTOS)

In 2011 sociologist Catherine Hakim wrote a controversial book called Honey Money. In it, she stated that women needed to exploit their sexuality in order to get ahead in the workplace. It was an asset nearly every woman possessed, but very few were smart enough to use.

"Physical and social attractiveness deliver substantial benefits in all social interaction - making a person more persuasive, able to secure the cooperation of colleagues, attract customers and sell products," Hakim wrote.

Hmm. She might be on to something.

We all know how beautiful Eve is, if the stunning green eyes, the perfect athlete's body and your millions of clicks on her photo shoots on WWE.com are any indication. Yet let's not forget how smart she is. Eve graduated with honors from USC with a degree in industrial and systems engineering. She is, essentially, the complete package. As @JoeyStyles likes to tweet "@EveMarieTorres is proof that God does exist."

Yes, Joey. Yes.

We often speak of equality amongst women. Equal pay. Equal opportunities. That there is still a glass ceiling, but the number of women holding high positions continues to grow. Women who have dedicated their lives to their craft with hard work, long days and many sacrifices.

The Divas division is no different, clawing their way onto TV and giving the WWE Universe OMG moments in the ring with superplexes and Superfly Splashes off the top rope. They are working hard to be on your radar. To be more than a line in results. And guess what, you're talking about Eve. She's on your radar - however dangerous that might seem with her condescending attitude in the ring.

With that, what is the problem with Eve using her sexuality to advance her career? She did, in fact, only kiss John Cena in a tense moment when the Cenation leader saved her from the maniacal Kane. She never kissed Zack Ryder. Men just can't resist her, and she knows it. Is that her fault? Does this make her a #hoeski? Or does it make her smarter than the rest of us?

Sometimes in this man's world, a woman's got to do what a woman's got to do to get ahead

Beth Phoenix Praises Eve

What’s really special about Eve is that she started with the Divas search and came into the company not knowing a lot about (it) or the wrestling background. But what I really admire about her is that she is learning to be the best in the ring (and) she is awesome to compete against because she brings a lot of heart.

I have had nothing but awesome competitive matches with her, and she always comes back for more when I knock her out with the Glam Slam.

With her stunning combination of beauty, brains and in-ring prowess, Eve will no doubt go down in WWE history as one of the most impactful Divas of all time. This bronze-skinned beauty’s continued study of Jiu-Jitsu has kept her at the apex of the Divas division, earning her a Divas Championship victory in a highly competitive Fatal 4-Way Match at the Royal Rumble last year. Will Eve net her third butterfly-emblazoned Divas Title in 2012? She’s made beliEVErs out of us.

Divas Ignite Twitter War

Category:

Days before their clash this Sunday at Vengeance, Divas Champion Beth Phoenix and Eve commenced a terse, intense Twitter war of words. The heated debate also drew the attention of Kelly Kelly, an enemy of The Glamazon and friend of the No. 1 contender, Eve.

Take a peek at some of the more incendiary comments and see the complete exchange on Twitterby following @EveMarieTorres, @TheBethPhoenix and @RealKellyKelly now. Then, tune in live this Sunday to see which Diva will leave Vengeance with the butterfly-emblazoned title.

@TheBethPhoenix initiated the spat with the following:
@EveMarieTorres the message you sent on Monday was as muddled as your makeup. But I understand. U have a hard time fitting in...you tried so hard to be Kelly's BFF but was she offering her spot in the Maxim 100 to you? Some friend."
So now you are trying to fit in with @NatbyNature and I, the "wrestlers" by thinking u are in our league?? Sorry @EveMarieTorres. You can’t lace our boots.. at #vengeance I’ll show the world why YOU are the outcast. You don't fit in. And let you cry about it. #crybabycry
The other Divas respect @NatbyNature and I. The Rookies worship the ground we walk on and @thebellatwins are always admiring our power and style. It’s hard to be humble when everyone around you places you on a pedestal. It’s okay to admire. We lead by example. #pinupstrong

@EveMarieTorres struck back, defending her position as a former Divas Champion:
Dear "wrestlers". (@NatbyNature & @TheBethPhoenix) I may not have come from the Dungeon or experienced the independents, but I did make the decision 4 years ago when I won the DS that I was going 2 do whatever it took 2 b a champion - be it gym, training, matches, jiu-jitsu. We all start somewhere. The question is where do we end up?"
Look where u ended up @TheBethPhoenix @NatbyNature? Bitter, negative... blaming others 4 ur disappointments & with a false sense of arrogance. I may not be a great "wrestler" But I am a fighter. On the mat & off.

@RealKellyKelly spoke out against The Glamazon as well:
@TheBethPhoenix wow that was the most annoying and pathetic rant i have ever read...everyone can talk on twitter...grow some boo boo!

Which Divas Could Join Beth & Natalya's Crusade?

Category:

While she’s been at ringside for many of Divas Champion Kelly Kelly’s recent matches, Eve has proven time and time again she’s much more than just a pretty face. (WATCH) Though she entered the competition as a former dancer with no in-ring skills, Eve won the 2007 WWE Diva Search and has since gone on to capture two prestigious Divas Titles. Expertly trained in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, she’s a strong and agile athlete. But let’s not forget about brains. Eve holds an engineering degree from the University of Southern California.

While she seems like an unlikely choice, Eve is a well-rounded Diva, and has the skills and personality to fit in with everyone … even Beth and Natalya. Plus, Eve pinned Natalya to win a tag team match on Raw SuperShow this week, proving she truly is a strong in-ring competitor. (WATCH) It may seem far-fetched, but if Eve happened to ditch her pal, Kelly Kelly, to join forces with Beth and Natalya, she could help change the face of the Divas division based on her impressive credentials and gain even more recognition.

Eve & The Bella Twins Respond To WWE.com

Category:

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

That old adage became very apparent in the hours after WWE.com posted an article that proposed the question: Does the Divas division need saving?

It’s been a topic of contention for the WWE Universe ever since the powerful duo of Beth Phoenix & Natalya first announced that they were on a mission to rid WWE of all the booty poppin’ and stinkfacing that they believed was bringing the Divas down. Clearly aiming their insults at Divas Champion Kelly Kelly, Eve and The Bella Twins, The Divas of Doom inspired heated debate amongst WWE fans with some agreeing with the dominant duo while others defended the hard work and popularity of Kelly and company.

Since then, the competitors have been content to settle their differences inside the squared circle. That was until WWE.com ran a feature that, in the eyes of some WWE Divas, gave unnecessary credence to the battle cry of Beth & Natalya. Outraged over the piece, Kelly, Eve and The Bellas took to their Twitter accounts on Sunday afternoon to voice their displeasure. When WWE.com caught up with them in Columbus, Ohio hours before Raw was set to go live, the Divas were still furious.

“The truth is people who have not been in our position and are not here living the life we do have no idea what we go through as Divas,” a passionate Eve told WWE.com.

It was a fiery opinion shared by her rivals, The Bella Twins. Cornering WWE.com in the hallway of the Nationwide Arena, the sinister sisters could barely control their anger.

“I think what first set us off was saying that the world cringed when Brie won the [Divas Championship],” Nikki snapped. “Actually, no they didn’t — at all.”

“People can’t stand the fact that, yes, we were models, but now we can kick anyone’s butt in the ring,” Brie added. “That’s pretty much what it comes down to.”

Well aware of the fact that the feature was directly inspired by the frank opinions of The Divas of Doom, The Bellas were quick to address the blonde powerhouses as well.

“We’ve actually worked harder than them, because we didn’t come from a wrestling background,” Brie said.

“We weren’t raised in a wrestling family and we didn’t come out of our mom’s womb lifting weights,” Nikki added with a flip of her hair.

For Eve, the harsh criticism she’s received from Beth & Natalya has been more offensive than anything.

“They lump certain Divas together as ‘model Divas.’ The truth is, I was never a model,” the former Divas Champion said. “I have an engineering degree. I can be somewhere else, but I chose to be here and I chose to fight for the Divas division every week.”

Still, the gorgeous competitor is not apologetic about her actions in the least. Although The Glamazon has had harsh words for Eve’s “booty pop” and Kelly’s “stinkface,” Ms. Torres stands up for her energetic moves.

“I’m still a woman and I still like to have fun,” she smiled. “And who doesn’t want to see Kelly Kelly’s butt in someone’s face? It’s great.”

Eve’s positivity was a sign that The Divas of Doom may have her shaken, but not defeated. In their own way, The Bella Twins feel the same.

“When we came into this business, everyone was against us,” Brie said. “And look where we’re at now. We succeeded. In your face.”
